5 Key Differences Between Amazfit Band 7 and Mi Band 7
In terms of comfort, these two trackers are durably and comfortably designed to be worn all day long. I always forget I’m wearing the Mi Band 7. Moreover, regarding activity tracking, both smartbands will track all your daily activities including steps, sleep, heart rate, calories, blood oxygen, and stress. These two will also track advanced metrics like VO2 Max, training load, training effect, and recovery time.
Beyond the awesome design and loads of activity-tracking features, each of these two will alert you when you receive a message or get an incoming call on your phone. And you have the option to reply with preset quick replies. Though the reply function for Mi Band 7 is only available if you use the Zepp Life app.
Despite the many similarities between the Amazfit Band 7 and Mi Band 7, they are different in a few ways which are highlighted below. Continue reading to find out.
- The shape is different and Amazfit Band 7 weighs a little more
- Amazfit Band 7 has a bigger display
- Amazfit Band 7 has a voice assistant
- Amazfit Band 7 has a longer battery life
- The companion apps are different
The first difference you will spot between these two is the shape. While the Amazfit Band 7 has a rectangular shape, the Mi Band 7 has a pill shape which is common for smartbands. The rectangular shape of the Amazfit Band 7 leaves it with a smartwatch appearance rather than that of a smartband.
Considering its shape, the Amazfit Band 7 is bigger in size than Mi Band 7. As a result, it weighs 14.5 grams more. Nonetheless, these two are very lightweight and you shouldn’t have any problem having any of these on your wrist 24/7.
Meanwhile, both smartbands spot a plastic case paired with removable silicone straps. Although, the straps are designed differently. The Mi Band 7 takes on a hollow design that engulfs the Band while Amazfit Band 7 has a regular strap design.
On paper, the Mi Band 7 has a 1.62 inches display which is bigger than the 1.47 inches of the Amazfit Band 7. However, going by the aspect ratio, the Amazfit Band 7 has a bigger footprint that will show more complications. In other words, it has a bigger display than the pill-shaped Mi Band 7.
Both wearables have AMOLED-powered displays with awesome readability. Touchscreen is the only mode of interaction on both devices.
The Amazfit Band 7 also has a microphone that enables voice assistance. It features the Alexa voice assistant that will allow you to use your voice to do simple tasks like starting a workout, setting up an alarm and timer. Mi Band 7 lacks a voice assistant, though the higher-end Mi Band 7 Pro has Alexa voice assistant.
While each of these two has a decent battery life that lets you go long from a single charge, the Amazfit Band 7 will keep you going for up to 18 days while it’s up to 14 days with Mi Band 7. From my experience, with always-on turned off, my Mi Band 7 last up to 12 days.
In confirmation of my claim that Zepp Health is different from Xiaomi, the companion apps for these two is different. You can pair the Amazfit Band 7 with the Zepp app, while Mi Band 7 can be paired with the Mi Fitness or Zepp Life app. Though the Mi Fitness app is the official app.
Looking at the differences between these two, the Amazfit Band 7 is a more complete wearable. Though, Mi Band 7 is still a fantastic choice.
Amazfit Band 7 vs Mi Band 7 Pro
The Mi Band 7 Pro is the high-end version of the Mi Band 7. It has an inbuilt GPS and shares alot in common with the Amazfit Band 7. They both have the same look and appearance as well as similar health-tracking features but differ in a few ways.
- Mi Band 7 Pro is more durable and stylish
- Mi Band 7 Pro has a bigger display
- Mi Band 7 Pro has inbuilt GPS
- Amazfit Band 7 has a longer battery life
- The companion apps are different
The Mi Band 7 Pro with its polymer and NCVM-coated case has a more durable build than the polycarbonate frame of Amazfit Band 7. The NCVM coating on the Mi Band 7 Pro leaves it with a shiny metal appearance that no doubt makes it more stylish.
Moreover, at 44.7mm, the Mi Band 7 Pro is a tad bigger than the 42.33mm Amazfit Band 7. However, it’s 1.2mm slimmer, and surprisingly weighs 7.5 grams less than Amazfit Band 7.
While both watches have AMOLED powered displays, the Mi Band 7 Pro has a bigger display size. It spots a 1.64 inches display compared to 1.47 inches of Amazfit Band 7.
The main difference between the Mi Band 7 Pro and the basic Mi Band 7 is the presence of a GNSS chip. With an inbuilt GPS, you can map your routes and locations during an outdoor activity with the Mi Band 7 Pro without your phone.
In contrast, you must carry your phone along to map your routes with the Amazfit Band 7. This obviously can come with its inconveniences, especially during running activities.
While both trackers have long battery life, the Amazfit Band 7 with up to 18 days of battery life lets you go longer compared to the Mi Band 7 Pro with up to 12 days of battery life.
Like in the case of Mi Band 7, the companion apps are also different. You need the Zepp App to pair Amazfit Band 7 to your phone. In contrast, you need the Mi Fitness app to connect Mi Band 7 Pro to your phone.
Both apps, from my investigations, are well designed and have a very neat and easy-to-use interface.
Which is the Best?
If you want an inbuilt GPS and a more stylish and durable build, go for the Mi Band 7 Pro. Though, it cost a little more.
On the flip side, the Amazfit Band 7 is a more comprehensive device than Mi Band 7. The display is bigger, the battery life is longer and it also has a voice assistant.
Nonetheless, I really like the Mi Band 7. It’s one hell of a smartband awesomely built and passionately equipped to help you stay fit. My love for the Mi Band 7 is why I have upgraded to the newly released Mi Band 8.
