Garmin Vivomove Sport vs 3s vs 3 vs Luxe: Design, Display, Activity Tracking and Battery Life Compared

Vivomove Sport vs Vivomove 3s vs 3 vs Style vs Luxe
The differences between all the units in the Vivomove series

Design – Vivomove Luxe has the most durable design followed by Vivomove Style

In terms of design, each of the Vivomove units has a very decent design that’s stylish, durable and classy. There are no many differences between the different models except for differences in sizes, colors, and material used.

The Vivomove Luxe is the most advanced of the series, it has the most premium design and this explains why it’s priced higher than every other model. The Luxe comes in a stainless steel case laced with either 24k gold or 18k gold/titanium finish. The Luxe unit is paired with either Italian leather or Milanese band. The bezel is made of stainless steel while a domed sapphire glass protects the display. Going by these materials, it’s one of the toughest smartwatches.

Meanwhile, the Vivomove Style follows up with an aluminum case and aluminum bezel that makes it very lightweight. The straps come in two materials, silicone or woven nylon which is priced higher. The display is protected by a domed Corning Gorilla Glass 3 material.

The Vivomove 3 and 3s have the same materials. These two come in a fiber-polymer case paired with a silicone strap and stainless steel bezel while the display is protected by a chemically strengthened glass.

While the new Vivomove sport comes in a very compact size made of a fiber-polymer case and a chemically strengthened glass. It lacks a bold bezel but rather has a blushed bezel made of the same material as its case. This leaves with a rather sporty appearance which obviously explains the name.

The Luxe and Style have the same dimension of 42 x 42 x 11.9 mm, while Vivomove 3 has the largest size of 44 x 44 x 11.3 mm. Meanwhile, Vivomove sport has a dimension of 40 x 40 x 11.0 mm, and Vivomove 3s has the most compact size of 39 x 39 x 10.9 mm. It’s also the slimmest. The Luxe and Style are somewhat thick at 11.9mm, but still on average when compared to other smartwatches.

The strap size for all the units is the same industry standard of 20mm except for the Vivomove 3s which has an 18mm strap size.

The Luxe is available in 6 colors while the Vivomove Style is available in 4 colors. Vivomove 3 is available in one color, while 3s come in 4 colors. The Vivomove Sport also comes in 4 colors.

Looking at the weights, the Vivomove Sport weighs the least. It comes at just 19g which makes it the most comfortable to wear. Vivomove 3 weighs 29.6g and 3s weighs 24.5g. The Style weighs just 25.5g while Luxe weighs the most at 44.5g. All weights are excluding straps.

In terms of price, Luxe with a Milanese stainless steel band is priced at $595. It’s $550 for the Luxe units with an Italian leather band. Similarly, Vivomove Style with woven straps will cost you $300, while those with a silicone strap are priced at $250.

Vivomove 3 and 3s are priced the same at $199, while Vivomove Sport is priced at $179, and is the cheapest.

In all, based on the design, the Luxe has the most sophisticated design of every other unit in this series.

Display – Vivomove Style and Luxe have AMOLED displays which is more colorful and easier to read

The display in the different models also differ. The Vivomove Sport, 3 and 3s all have the same display type powered by OLED. Although, the Vivomove Sport has a slightly more colorful display that makes it easier to read.

The Luxe and Style have AMOLED powered display. This is a more colorful display that is very easy to read. Moreover, unlike the other units, these two have dual displays that allow you to see more. There is also an ambient light sensor on these two that auto regulates the brightness of the display so that you can see what’s on the screen very clearly in every light condition.

All models have touch-sensitive displays that let you interact with the watch. The smart display is hidden and only comes up when you swipe or touch the screen.

Vivomove Sport and 3s have the smallest display sizes of 1.1 inches, Luxe and Style have the same display sizes of 1.2 inches while Vivomove 3 has the largest display size of 1.3 inches.

Activity Tracking – Vivomove Sport lacks altimeter but welcomes incidental fall detection, LiveTrack and more profiles

Vivomove Sport lacks an altimeter and as such, it can’t count floors. It also lacks the ability to track cadence (steps per minute). Beyond these, it has the same fitness tracking features as every other unit. Each has a heart rate sensor, accelerometer and blood oxygen sensor.

As a result, any of the models will track your heart rate plus the ability to alert you when your heart rate is too low or high. Each of these will also track your sleep when you wear it to sleep. Other features include stress monitoring, blood oxygen measurement, hydration, and mindful minutes.

A body energy battery that lets you see how fit you are for the next workout is also available, so also is fitness age and menstrual cycle tracking for women.

All the models lack inbuilt GPS, rather they can connect to your phone GPS to track outdoor activities. There are also preloaded sports modes to choose from in the companion app. All tracked activities can be viewed in detail from the Garmin Connect app which available on both Google Playstore and Apple App store.

The Vivomove Sport features incidental fall detection – a feature that lets the watch start a call to a preset emergency contact when it detects a hard fall. You can choose a number to call from the Garmin Connect app and when the watch detects a fall it will start a call as long as your phone is nearby. It also features LiveTrack as well as more sports profiles.

Notifications and Payments – Only Vivomove Luxe and Style support Garmin pay

Each of the models will alert you when you receive a notification from your phone. You also have the option to reply to notifications with preset quick replies (supported on Android only)

Meanwhile, only Luxe and Style comes with Garmin Pay. This is a non-contactless payment system that lets you make payments directly from the watch. The other units lack this feature.

Battery Life

The battery life of all the models is the same except for a slight difference. With Each of these, you can get up to 5 days of battery life. And with watch mode activated, you can get up to 14 days of battery life and 12 days with the Vivomove Luxe and Style units. Note that watch mode disables smart features like notifications and activity tracking, leaving only time.
