Description
Garmin Vivosmart 5 – Full Smartwatch Specifications – Succeeding the Vivosmart 4 is the Vivosmart 5 which looks exactly like its predecessor but however has a slightly larger display, interchangeable bands and more activity-tracking features including safety-tracking features. Moreover, it has a physical button that makes it easier to navigate.
Unlike its predecessor, the Vivosmart 5 lacks an aluminum bezel that no doubt makes the Vivosmart 4 finer. However, it’s nonetheless a very durable and sturdily built device. It spots a fiber-polymer case paired with silicone straps that can be swapped. You can wear it to the shower or pool, thanks to its 5ATM waterproof rating.
The display is monochrome OLED which isn’t colorful but very easy to read especially under direct sunlight. Operating the device is via the touch-sensitive screen and a physical button. The watch face can also be customized from the Garmin Connect app.
Under the hood, the Vivosmart 5 is packed with sensors that enable it to track your daily activities. It will track your steps, calories, sleep, blood oxygen, heart rate, and more. It also features a body battery energy monitor that tells you how fit you are for the task ahead. It will also track your respiratory rate 24/7.
Like the Vivosmart 4, the Vivosmart 5 also lacks an inbuilt GPS. However, it can leverage on your phone’s GPS to map your routes and locations during an outdoor workout.
The Vivosmart 5 features incidental fall detection that will enable the device to start a call on your phone to a preset emergency contact when it detects a fall. It will also send a message with your exact location to your emergency contacts. It also features LiveTrack which allows you to invite your friends to follow you as you workout outdoors. Those you invite will be able to see your routes, pace and other metrics.
Beyond the many activity tracking features, the Vivosmart 5 will also keep you connected. It will alert you when you receive a notification on your phone, and you will have the option to reply with preset replies (Android only). It also features a music playback control app, a weather and alarm apps.
With its long battery life, the Vivosmart 5 will keep you going for up to 7 days from a single charge.
