Description

The GT 4 is the latest smartwatch from the Chinese tech giant, Huawei. It succeeds the GT 3 and it comes in a prestigious design but surprisingly lacks ECG and a depth sensor that are present in the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro. Nonetheless, the GT 4 comes with an improved heart rate sensor and better GPS mapping accuracy. It also has a speaker and microphone and boasts a long battery life that lets you go long from a single charge.

The Huawei Watch GT 4 like its predecessor comes in two sizes; 41mm and 46mm units. Both sizes have the same features however the sizes and battery life are different.

Design

Unlike the Huawei Watch GT 3, both sizes of the GT 4 have the same stainless steel frame. The Huawei Watch GT 4 (41mm) unit has a 20mm swappable strap that comes in Milanese stainless steel material, fluoroelastomer, leather and stainless steel materials. The 41mm unit is also easy to operate, it has a touchscreen display which in addition to the side button and rotating crown makes it easy to navigate.

Both the 41mm and 46mm units are certified 5ATM which means it’s safe to wear any of these to the swimming pool or to the shower.

Display

The display of the Huawei Watch GT 4 is also outstanding, it’s very colorful and easy to read. The 46mm unit has a 1.43 inches display while the 41mm unit has a 1.32 inches display. Both units come with a handful of preloaded watch faces and you have the option to download more watch faces from the Huawei Health app.

Health Tracking

Tracking your daily activities is at the core functions of the Huawei Watch GT 4. While there is no mention of ECG or a depth sensor, it has a more advanced heart rate sensor that utilizes Huawei’s TruSeen 5.5 algorithm to track your heart rate more accurately. And with Huawei’s Trusleep 3.0, it can track your sleep in all four stages. It will also track your naps.

The GT 4 is equipped with a skin temperature sensor that will allow you to measure your skin temperature directly from your wrist. It will also monitor your blood oxygen and stress throughout the day.

Moreover, there are over 100 sports modes to choose from, and the watch can auto-detect and track a total of 6 exercises.

Like its predecessor, the Huawei Watch GT 4 has an inbuilt GPS that enables standalone mapping of your routes during outdoor activity. It uses both L1 and L5 signals to accurately map your routes. Moreover, with an enhanced satellite antenna array, Huawei claims that the GT 4 route mapping accuracy is 30% more accurate than that of its predecessor.

Notifications and Receiving Calls

The Huawei Watch GT 4 has both a microphone and speaker that will allow you to take calls directly on the watch as long as your phone is nearby. You can also reject calls from the watch.

When notifications is enabled for your preferred apps, the watch will alert you when there is a new message and you will have the option to reply to messages using preset quick replies. Note that quick replies are not supported on iPhone.

Battery Life

Like its predecessor, the Huawei Watch GT 4 has a remarkable battery life that lets you go days from a single charge, the Huawei Watch GT 4 (41mm) unit has up to 7 days of battery life in a typical scenario. It’s up to 4 days with heavy usage and when always-on is constantly enabled, it’s up to 2 days battery life.

Interestingly, the Huawei Watch GT 4 has fast charging, it takes less time to charge.
