Amazfit T-rex Pro vs T-rex 2 vs T-rex Ultra

The T-rex Pro shares a lot in common with the higher-end T-rex 2 and Ultra. The shapes are the same, and so are the tracking features. However, the display size, preloaded modes, and battery life differ. And of course, the prices also differ. I have listed the differences between these three watches below, so continue reading to learn more.

  • T-rex Pro has a smaller display
  • The first difference between the T-rex Pro and T-rex 2 is the display size. The T-rex 2 has a 1.39 inches display while the T-rex Pro has a slightly smaller 1.3 inches display. The recently released T-rex Ultra also has the same 1.39 inches display as the T-rex 2. Meanwhile, all three watches have displays powered by AMOLED with brightness up to 1000nits, and you also get loads of preloaded watch faces.

  • T-Rex Ultra has a stainless steel bezel
  • Unlike the T-rex Pro and T-rex 2 which both have a case and bezel made of polymer, the T-rex Ultra has a more sophisticated stainless steel bezel accompanied by a polymer frame. As a result, it weighs a little more than the other two. The straps of all three watches is made of silicone and are swappable.

Moreover, each of these three is rated 10ATM and certified MIL-STD-810G. This means that you can swim with the watch and it can survive harsh weather conditions like extreme cold and dust.

  • T-Rex Ultra has music storage
  • Furthermore, the T-rex Ultra will allow you to store music onboard the watch which you can listen to offline. In contrast, the T-rex Pro and T-rex 2 lack a music storage option, though all three watches will allow you to remotely control music playing on your phone.

Unlike the GTS and GTR series, the T-rex series lack voice assistant and Bluetooth calls as a result of the absence of a microphone and speaker.

  • T-rex Ultra has more preloaded sport modes
  • Another difference between the different T-rex models is the number of preloaded sports modes. While T-rex Pro features 100 preloaded sport modes, it’s 154 for T-rex 2 and 162 for T-rex Ultra. Moreover, the T-Rex Ultra can detect 25 strength training exercises while T-Rex 2 can detect 15 strength training exercises. These two can detect what type of strength training exercises you doing, and after the workout will show what muscle group has been worked. In contrast, the T-Rex Pro doesn’t have the ability to detect strength training exercises. Meanwhile, all three watches can auto-detect and track 8 exercises.

  • T-rex Ultra supports more satellite systems
  • Each of the T-rex models is equipped with an inbuilt GPS for mapping your locations and routes. However, while the T-Rex Pro supports 4 satellite systems, the T-rex 2 supports 5 satellite systems, meanwhile, the T-rex Ultra supports 6 satellite systems. In other words, the T-rex Ultra offers better outdoor tracking coverage.

Moreover, for better accuracy and consistency, both T-rex Ultra and T-rex 2 support dual-band GPS. These two utilize the L1 and L5 frequencies to ensure a more accurate tracking even in very dense areas with tall trees or buildings. These two will also allow you to import your favorite routes via the Zepp App to the watch. You can then explore the route right from the watch and you will get a turn-by-turn navigational guidance. Meanwhile, the T-Rex Pro being an older model lacks dual-band GPS and the route import function.

  • T-rex Ultra is a dive watch
  • Like the Apple Watch Ultra and Huawei Watch Ultimate, the T-rex Ultra is a dive watch. It’s certified EN13319 & ISO6245, and will support ocean exploration up to 30 meters. While underwater, the watch has a dive app that will show your current depth and the water temperature. The T-rex Pro and T-rex 2 lack diving features.

  • T-rex Ultra runs on Zepp 2.0
  • Zepp 2.0 is the current operating system for the latest Amazfit watches. It’s an upgrade from the Zepp 1.0, and now has a better UI and features more apps. Unfortunately, due to incompatibility, Amazfit Watches on Zepp 1.0 won’t be upgraded to Zepp 2.0. Though, Amazfit is working to ensure their future watches can be upgraded to a higher OS.

The T-rex 2 runs on Zepp 1.0 while T-rex Pro runs on the older Amazfit OS. Nonetheless, these operating systems offer decent and easy-to-use user interfaces.

  • T-rex 2 has the longest battery life
  • Interestingly, all three T-rex watches have long battery life that will keep you going for weeks. You get up to 18 days with T-rex Pro, and 20 days with T-rex Ultra, while T-rex 2 has the longest battery life of up to 24 days.

Amazfit T-rex Ultra vs Falcon

The T-rex Ultra shares a lot in common with the Falcon, however, these two differ in battery life and build. The Falcon has a higher waterproof rating and a more durable titanium build accompanied by a premium sapphire glass while the T-rex Ultra has a longer battery life.

Moreover, while the Falcon with a massive 20ATM rating can withstand pressure up to 200 meters and is even suitable for high-impact water sports like jet-skiing and surfing, it lacks a dedicated diving app.

Meanwhile, T-rex is certified EN13319 & ISO6245 and has a dedicated diving app that shows water temperature and depth. You can learn more about the differences between T-rex Ultra and Falcon.

Conclusion

Amazfit T-rex Pro vs T-rex 2 vs T-rex Ultra
The T-Rex Ultra is a better smartwatch than T-Rex 2

Rounding up, the T-rex Ultra is a better-equipped watch than T-rex 2 and T-rex Pro. It has a more durable build and features music storage, more sports modes, and diving capabilities, yet has an outstanding battery life. However, it will cost you a little more.

If you want premium materials, the Falcon has the most sophisticated and durable build.

On the flip side, the T-rex 2 is a cheaper alternative with a monster battery life.
