Fitbit Inspire 2 vs 3 Features Reviewed

Design: Fitbit Inspire 2 vs Inspire 3

The Inspire 3 spots the same appearance as its predecessor, both smartbands look very similar. Just like the Inspire 2, the Inspire 3 has a case made of plastic resin paired with removable silicone straps. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass, and it’s rated 5ATM – which means, it can be worn while swimming.

The Inspire 3 is slimmer than the Inspire 2, thus it weighs a little less. In other words, even though the Inspire 2 is a very lightweight and comfortable to wear smartband, the Inspire 3 is lighter and more comfortable to wear.

The Inspire 3 comes in three different colors which include a Black case/lilac band, a Black case/morning-glow band, and a Black case/black band.

Display: Fitbit Inspire 2 vs Inspire 3

Moving forward, the display section is one of the reasons why the Inspire 3 is better than Inspire 2. Fitbit decided its time to upgrade the display with a more colorful AMOLED display. This is actually coming late considering that cheaper smartbands like Huawei Band 6 and Mi Band 7 both have an AMOLED display.

While the Inspire 3 has an AMOLED display, the Inspire 2 has a monochrome OLED display. The AMOLED display is more colorful, and the Inspire 3 also welcomes an ambient light sensor that will auto-regulate the brightness of the display based on the prevailing environmental light. Moreover, it has the Always-on display mode that will allow you to keep the screen on, though, this will have a significant impact on the battery life.

Both smartbands have customizable displays, you have a handful of watch faces to choose from in the Fitbit app.

Health Tracking: Fitbit Inspire 2 vs Inspire 3

The Inspire 2 like the Inspire 3 is equipped with a heart rate sensor and accelerometer that enables tracking of your steps, calories, heart rate and sleep. Both smartbands will track your heart rate continuously and your sleep in all four stages of sleep.

Both smartbands also leverage existing sensors to track your skin temperature variation when you where the smartband to sleep.

Both smartbands lack inbuilt GPS but can connect to your phone’s GPS to track your routes and locations when you go for an outdoor workout. This means that you must carry your phone along to map routes and locations.

However, the Inspire 3 now has an infrared sensor that enables it to monitor your blood oxygen level when you wear it to sleep. It also has more workout modes. It has up to 40 workout modes compared to 20 on Inspire 2.

In other words, the Inspire 3 has more activity-tracking features than Inspire 2.

Battery Life: Fitbit Inspire 2 vs Inspire 3

Despite being slimmer and featuring a more colorful display, the Inspire 3 surprisingly retains the same battery life as its predecessor, the Inspire 2.

Fitbit says the Inspire 3 can last up to 10 days which is very commendable, although, it falls behind the Huawei Band 7 and Mi Band 7, both of which can go up to 14 days from a single charge.

Fitbit Inspire 3 – Should You Upgrade?

Yes, I will upgrade to the Inspire 3 because it has a slimmer build, better display and more health-tracking features. If you want a more colorful display and the ability to measure your blood oxygen level, then it’s a good investment to upgrade to the Inspire 3.

The Inspire 3 is clearly a better smartband than the Inspire 2, it has a more colorful display, it’s slimmer, it can measure your blood oxygen and it also features sleep mode that allows you to mute notifications on your phone when you’re sleeping. In all honestly, of all recently released trackers from Fitbit, the Inspire 3 is the only device that’s worth upgrading to. Unlike the Versa 4 and Sense 2 which look like a downgrade when compared to their predecessors.
