Description

In 2022, Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro instead of a Galaxy Watch 5 Classic which many including myself felt was the end of the physical rotating bezel. However, in a U-turn, Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 6 alongside the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic which is the true successor to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

The new Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has a similar appearance as its predecessor but it comes with new features which include a bigger display, a faster Exynos w930 chip and an easier-to-change band.

Like its predecessor, it comes in two sizes. However, unlike its predecessor which is available in 42 and 46mm, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is available in 43mm and 47mm. These two sizes also come in LTE and Bluetooth models.

The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and Galaxy Watch 6 ship with Wear OS 4 which is the latest operating system for Wear OS watches. Wear OS 4 is also now available in Galaxy Watch 4 and 5. The new operating system ushers new features which includes improved user interface, battery-efficient watch faces, easier backup, and better security and performance.

Like the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, the Watch 6 Classic has a stainless steel frame while the 20mm bands come in silicone. Meanwhile, the screen is a tough scratch-resistant sapphire glass. It’s also rated 5ATM which means it’s safe to wear under the rain or to the swimming pool.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic like the Galaxy Watch 6 is powered by a faster Exynos w930 chip which boasts up to 1.4GHz in clock speed. This alongside a big 2GB RAM ensures the new watch delivers superior speed and performance.

In the health tracking sector, the Galaxy Watch 6 is equipped with a heart rate sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope that enables it to track your steps, calories, sleep, stress, blood oxygen, heart rate, ECG and blood pressure. It also has a skin temperature sensor that enables it to track your skin temperature. Moreover, the bio impendence analysis sensor enables the watch to monitor your body composition.

There is an inbuilt GPS in the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic that enables it to track your routes and locations during an outdoor workout. You also get over 90 sports modes to choose from.

The 43mm unit of the Galaxy Watch 6 is equipped with a 300mAh battery while the 47mm unit has a 425mAh battery capacity. According to Samsung, you can get up to 40h hours of battery life with either the 43 or 47mm unit, and it takes less than an hour to fully charge the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic (43mm) Bluetooth model retails at $370 while the 47mm unit retails for $400. Meanwhile, the 43mm LTE model has a $420 price tag while the 47mm unit has a $450 price tag.
