Ticwatch Pro 5 Full Smartwatch Specifications – Trying to catch up with the big guys like Apple and Samsung, Mobvoi recently released the Ticwatch Pro 5 which succeeds the Ticwatch Pro 3. The new watch is the first watch to ship with the recently launched Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip and is also accompanied by the normal dual display and a big 625mAh battery that the company claims can last up to 80 hours.

Running on the Wear OS 3.5 platform, the Ticwatch Pro 5 becomes the first watch from Mobvoi to run on the platform – joining the likes of the Pixel Watch and the Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 series. However, Google recently announced Wear OS 4 is coming this fall, and it’s not clear when Mobvoi will upgrade the newly launched Ticwatch Pro 5 to Wear OS 4 – that is considering the company’s lackadaisical attitude towards upgrading older Ticwatches to Wear OS 3.

Nonetheless, with a high-performing Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset and 2GB RAM, it has an awesome performance. The user interface which is very similar to that of Pixel Watch is very easy and friendly to use. Moreover, it comes with lots of preloaded watch faces.

The Ticwatch Pro 5 is available in one size, 48mm. It comes in two colors; Obsidian and Sandstone colors. It retails for $350.

The chassis is made of aluminum while the bezel is made of stainless steel. Meanwhile, Mobvoi has ditched the 22mm straps used on their older watches for a wider 24mm strap on the Ticwatch Pro 5.

On the display side, you have a dual display consisting of a low-power FSTN that unlike before now shows health metrics like your heart rate and steps and a more colorful AMOLED display. Interestingly, the secondary FSTN display offers you the option to choose from 18 different color pallets. Moreover, while the secondary display is enabled, the watch will still be able to track your sleep.

When the FSTN display is activated, you can get up to 45 days of battery life, though some Wear OS features are disabled. Meanwhile, in typical usage, Mobvoi claims the Ticwatch Pro 5 can last up to 80 hours. The watch supports fast charging and comes with a pin-type charging dock.

The Ticwatch Pro 5 is equipped with a microphone and speaker that enables the watch to make and receive calls when your phone is nearby. It’s also equipped with 32GB storage that will allow you to store music onboard the watch.

Running on the Wear OS platform, the Ticwatch 5 Pro boasts a host of apps which includes YouTube Music, the newly launched WhatsApp app and other apps. The watch also ships with preloaded apps some of which are proprietary apps.

Overall, the Ticwatch Pro 5 seems like the next big thing. However, I don’t think it’s a better smartwatch than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro or Apple Watch 8. Nonetheless, it’s fantastically designed and well-equipped with lots of interesting features.
